MELT fest part 2

Festival s biggest revelation was Tim Exile. His name was familiar for years but i ve never payed attention to hearing his work. Now i did, and it was a big boom for my ears. The guy is doing everything live, first records a sample by his voice, makes a rythm out of it, and sequences some other samples so that he could sing like some idm folk star :) Here you go!:)

his set ended in brutal breakcore cocktail, all of us liked it.

Let me remember, hmmm...
the second night we saw Whomadewho. Danish disco-punk band, one of the best concerts i ve been to.. except for the last song they played, a remake of Benny Bennasi's Satisfaction, they prove to be innovative (yet so retro), Gossipish, Queen of the Stone Age-ish blender. Their last album The Plot is this Mr July for my Winamp list.

This is the absolute hit from their first album.

The dance arena looked like this:

i had a chance to see James Holden over there which turned out to be very nice minimal idm electro set, similar to the works of Nathan Fake or Clark. Language cannot express emotions caused by music, come to think of it, we are condemned to use language, and to say so little. hmm..

The next band which had drawn my attention was Miike Snow. A brand new indie electro pop. Their music was like swimming in the sea, you dip in and enjoy it, the salty water holds you as you proceed calmly. The whole concept of the concert has been imagined profoundly. They began with the majo r hit Animal, then follow with romantic song, another hit, slower song again, cyclical pop. The audience was in trans, as the sound sistem was powerful enough to show Miike Snow in a true light.

Too bad Metronomy cancelled their performance, Moderat could n t p
lay due to the storm that appeared on the first day and it s even sadder that i could n t see La Roux since there was such a huge crowd in Coca Cola stage that guards did n t allow not a single person to enter the tent. It s also such a pitty i missed The Gossip and Crystal Castles were a dissapointment.
If you go to MELT festival next year, do not forget to bring warmer clothes and a strong tent, but i would advise you to rent a flat in a nearby town or Dessau. That s my plan for next year ;)

At least rain in combination with sun created a clear rainbow on a lake.
